CEO: WPP

At the end of the film come the credits. First, all the key players - and then, as the lights go up and the audience begins to slip away, there scrolls up the screen a seemingly endless catalogue of others, some with barely comprehensible functions. These are the unsung heroes of any creative process and they should never be forgotten. They are indispensable.

As John O'Keeffe says in his own introduction: the work in this book, in all categories, is world class..Those talented craftsmen and women whose work it is have my unbounded admiration and gratitude. This is why our clients come to us and indeed why WPP exists.

So I'm sure our creative elite will be happy to join me in recognising all those other talents in our companies - those inevitably less exposed to the limelight - without whom this work would be neither as fine as it is nor as effective.

They are the unsung heroes of our own creative process - and they should never be forgotten. We thank them, too.
